WaWa Weekend Day 2
On October 3rd we found ourselves at the CCS store in the Paramus Mall. Apparently this mall is one the most blitzed out mall on the face of planet friggin' earth! It took a while for a few of us to even get a parking spot anywhere near the mall and I believe some of the guys had to pull some cold-blooded parking spot theft if they were ever to get out of their cars and into the CCS store.
Signings without a demo can sometimes be fairly mellow and there's not always a huge turnout unless you're Ryan Shecker or Tony Hawk. But at the CCS store there were oodles of attendees on the scene which was great and had us feeling like The Jonas Brothers up in this mall. Silas was right at home in the shop too since he rides for CCS and they had a giant life size wallpaper photo of him in effect. A lot of cool peoples turned out for the signing and it was good to see that there was such a good scene in this area of New Jersey. A lot of kids with really good mentals were there which gave me hope for the future and is always thoroughly refreshing. There's not much else to be said really except that we signed a bunch of stuff and met a lot of good humans and then we were out.
Next we headed to the Division East shop in Montclair, NJ. The Division East shop is a proper shop in a nice looking area of New Jersey that looks a lot hipper than most places. It was really mellow there but there was a nice vibe at the shop. A couple of us also got interviewed in the changing room where it was nice and intimate. There was a guy there working on a project for school so we got in front of his cameras and had our brains piqued. I think I began the interview with saying "I feel like I'm going to get gang raped back here or something.". I quickly realized I would have to curb my speech when the young gentlemen told me he'd have to edit that bit out since the whole thing was for school. After that the interview went off wonderfully. So if you're in his class you can look out for those interviews. Otherwise I don't know if you'll ever get to see it.
I headed home from Montclair while the other guys went to get into some weirdness down in Asbury Park, NJ. Apparently they were going to a roller derby where one of the teams was called the Montreal Sexpos! I forget what the New Jersey team was called but I'm sure it was also good. Like I said I went home and didn't make it to the derby but I did hear all about it the next day. Apparently Steve Durante got beat up by a bouncer so he was doubly hurt the next day when I saw him. Hopefully they have some photos from that whole scenario so that we will all be blessed with some of the imagery from that evening.
